Stay up to date on the Irving market
In 1903, two men, J.O. "Otto" Schulze and Otis Brown, founded the city of Irving, Texas. While the area had originally been called Gorbet, legend has it the city was named after literary author Washington Irving, which was Netta Barcus Brown's favorite author. As with most of the areas surrounding Dallas, Irving grew from the cotton trade, with two cotton gins, one church, a blacksmith shop, and a general store making up some of the first structures to have been built on the 68 square mile piece of land. Though population growth started out slow, the city started seeing a population boom in the mid-20th century as manufacturing plants began to supply the city with a steady source of income. With that, many other types of businesses began to thrive in Irving, such as financial institutions, retail stores, and transportation. Irving was once home to the Dallas Cowboys when the Texas Stadium was completed in 1971.
Being that Irving is only 18 minutes away from Dallas, Texas, residents who own real estate here are offered all the things they need regarding shopping, fine dining, recreational activities, and shopping. Adding to all of that, Irving is surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural spaces in the United States. For instance, you have White Rock Lake located on the northeastern side of Dallas. This man-made reservoir offers paved biking and jogging paths and allows fishing, kayaking, along with providing visitors numerous other activities. You have Texas Discovery Gardens which features natural learning experiences, like conservation events and assorted exhibits. For those looking for a little excitement for the entire family, you have the 212-acre Six Flags Over Texas theme park and the AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, both located in Arlington.
Texas is known to have some of the most diverse choices of real estate in the United States. You can choose from single-family and multi-family homes, apartments, condominiums, and anything in between. Irving properties range in style from modern cottages to Contemporary-style homes; from Craftsman to European-style homes; from farmhouses to Prairie-style homes, as well as numerous other styles common throughout America. No matter what it is you're looking for, you're sure to find something that fits your budget right here.
